I will still call this Crema de Fruta, but I know some people (or my fellow Filipinos) may argue about this and say that “No, it can’t be, it’s danish” . Okay, okay.
One might ask, “What’s the difference between Filipino Style Spaghetti sauce and the typical spaghetti sauce?” Well, it’s the BANANA KETCHUP. Yes, we put banana ketchup in our spaghetti sauce and yes, we do have banana ketchup :). The banana ketchup adds sweetness and color to the sauce. As what my husband told me before “to me, a spaghetti without ketchup and hotdog is not spaghetti”, until now at his age, this is still his favorite pasta dish. Aside from the fact that most Filipinos grew up with this kind of spaghetti sauce, this also reminds him (and me) of childhood and birthday parties.
When the price of tomatoes go down (as in 95 cents per kilo), marinara sauce cooks up!
This labor of love marinara sauce has so many uses thus I recommend you make in bulk.
